I'm pretty sure that everyone's expectations of sippy cups are a little different, but I want to tell you about some of my faves, in the off chance that it will make your life simpler... and because there is no such thing as a real-live sippy cup consultant... yet.
- My #1 fave, tried and true: Munchkin Mighty Grip Trainer
- A close second: Munchkin Mighty Grip Spill-Proof Cup
- For straw-loving babes: Nuby No-Spill with Flexi Straw
- The handles on this one break when a frustrated baby throws it on the floor: Playtex The First Lil' Gripper
- This one leaks all the time. Maybe it's just me: Nuby Super Spout
Love your post on sippy cups, MommaPooks.
ReplyDeleteAh, to have the choices that sipping babies' mothers have today...
Our choice... our ONLY choice was a simple snap on Tupperware plastic bell cup with a sippy snap on lid...that leaked. No handles. Life was rough back in the day. But you DID have a cool little plastic Forida Orange with a green straw stem that saved you!

ReplyDeleteThese last forever and can take a massive beating. No leaks, and they grow with the kids.
I've had sippies for years, and never a dishwasher. I've had crud I've had to use toothpicks to get out! I've been a faithful playtex sippy buyer though. But I have to say, after having children in speech therapy, and hearing so many awful things about sippies, I decided to forgo the regular spout with Katie. I'm only using a straw which I started about 7 months (apparently the best time to start). The one she uses has handles and no valve, so it can leak. But I close it when we travel thank goodness! The bigger sizes have a built in valve in the straw. I'll deal with that, but I'm soooo over the little valves in sippies (esp after not finding that strawberry cup under the couch for a few days...). And you're totally right, there are def important things about what kinds of stuff to buy that there ought to be more advice on!
